- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water

Method
- Rinse and soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds.
- When the cumin seeds start to splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger paste, garlic paste, and chopped green chillies. Sauté for a few seconds.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
- Add green peas and mix well.
- Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pressure cooker. Mix well.
- Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 2-3 whistles.
- Let the pressure cooker cool down on its own.
- Once the pressure is released, open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves (optional).
- Matar rice is ready to be served.

- You can add more vegetables like carrots and beans to make the dish more nutritious.
- You can adjust the spice level according to your taste.
- You can also cook this dish in a regular pot instead of a pressure cooker. Just increase the cooking time to 30-35 minutes.
