Method
Follow these steps to make lontong rice cake:- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 4 hours.
- Drain the water and put the rice in a blender. Add water and blend until it becomes a smooth paste.
- Add salt to the rice paste and mix well.
- Cut the banana leaves into 20cm x 20cm squares.
- Place 2-3 tablespoons of rice paste onto the center of a banana leaf square.
- Roll the banana leaf and paste into a cylinder, making sure to seal the edges tightly.
- Tie the ends of the banana leaf cylinder with cooking twine.
- Repeat the process until all of the rice paste is used up.
- Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.
- Put the banana leaf cylinders into the boiling water and cook for 90 minutes.
- Remove the banana leaf cylinders from the water and let them cool.
- Remove the cooking twine and cut the lontong into slices.
- Lontong rice cake is ready to serve.
Notes
