- 1 cup of Basmati rice
- 2 cups of water
- 1/4 cup of lime juice
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon of urad dal
- 1 teaspoon of chana dal
- 2 dried red chillies
- A pinch of asafoetida powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro
- Salt to taste

- A frying pan

Method
- Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Drain the water and add 2 cups of fresh water to the rice. Cook the rice until it is fluffy and tender.
- Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and dried red chillies.
- Once the mustard seeds start to splutter and the dals turn golden brown, add asafoetida powder and turmeric powder.
- Stir for a few seconds and add the lime juice.
- Mix well and turn off the heat.
- Add the cooked rice to the frying pan and mix well.
- Add salt to taste and cilantro.
- Mix well and serve hot.
Notes
- You can add grated coconut for an extra flavor.
- You can also add roasted peanuts for a crunchy texture.
- Adjust the amount of lime juice according to your taste.
