Method

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan and add the chopped onions. Saute the onions till they turn golden brown.
  3. Add ginger and garlic paste to the pan and saute for a minute or two.
  4. Add the minced meat to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and mix well.
  6. Drain the water from the rice and add it to the pan. Mix well and stir for a minute or two.
  7. Add 2 cups of water to the pan and bring it to a boil.
  8. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid, and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water has evaporated.
  9. Once the rice is cooked, turn off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  10. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot with raita or pickle.
