- 1 tsp of mustard seeds
- 1 tsp of cumin seeds
- 1 tsp of urad dal
- 1 tsp of chana dal
- 5-6 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp of oil
- Salt to taste

- A frying pan
- A spatula
Method
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry until the dals turn golden brown.
- Add chopped onion, green chilli, and curry leaves. Fry until the onion turns translucent.
- Add grated coconut and fry for a minute.
- Add the soaked rice and fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add 3 cups of water and salt to taste. Mix well.
- Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
- Turn off the flame and let the pressure release naturally.
- Open the pressure cooker and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Serve hot with raita or any side dish of your choice.
Notes
- You can add more green chillies if you prefer a spicier dish.
- You can also add cashews and raisins for a richer taste.
- Make sure to fluff the rice well after it is cooked, to avoid clumping.
