Method
- Wash the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain and set aside.

- Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, and cardamom pods to the pot. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

- Add the water and salt to the pot and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.
- Cook for 20-25 minutes until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
