For the Jeera Rice:- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water

- 3 cups water
- 1 tablespoon ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves

Method:
Jeera Rice:
- Wash the rice in water and soak it for 10 minutes.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Fry for a few seconds.
- Add the soaked rice and fry for a minute.
- Add water and salt to taste. Cover the pan and cook on low heat until the rice is cooked.
Dal Tadka:
- Wash the lentils in water and soak it for 10 minutes.
- Pressure cook the lentils with water and salt for 3 whistles.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Fry for a few seconds.
- Add chopped onions and fry until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Add the cooked lentils and mix well. Cook for 5-10 minutes on low heat.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Notes:
- You can adjust the spice level according to your taste.
- If you don't have a pressure cooker, you can cook the lentils in a pot. It will take around 30-40 minutes.
- You can add more vegetables like carrots, peas, and capsicum to the dal tadka.
- You can serve this dish with raita, pickle, and papad.
