Equipment

  • Wok or large frying pan
  • Hot stone bowl (optional)

Method

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. Cut the vegetables into thin strips and blanch them in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat the wok or frying pan over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil and minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the meat to the wok and cook until browned and cooked through. Add the soy sauce, sugar, and gochujang and stir to combine.
  5. Divide the cooked rice into 4 serving bowls (or 1 hot stone bowl). Arrange the blanched vegetables and cooked meat on top of the rice.
  6. Fry the eggs in a separate pan and place one on top of each bowl of mixed rice.
  7. Drizzle the spicy sauce over the rice and vegetables and mix everything together before eating.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

Korean mixed rice can be customized to your liking by adding your favorite vegetables and protein. You can also adjust the spiciness of the sauce by adding more or less gochujang.
