Method

  3. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling milk. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add saffron strands to the milk and mix well.
  5. Cook the rice until it is soft and the milk has thickened. It will take around 30-40 minutes.
  6. Add sugar and mix well. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  7. Add cardamom powder and chopped nuts. Mix well.
  8. Remove from heat and let it cool down for a few minutes.
  9. Transfer the kheer rice to a serving bowl and garnish with more chopped nuts.
  10. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
