Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cooked rice
  • 1 cup of curd

  • 1/2 teaspoon of chana dal
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon of asafoetida
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for tempering

Method

  1. Mash the cooked rice in a bowl and keep it aside.
  2. In a pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Let them splutter for a few seconds.
  3. Add chopped green chili and asafoetida and fry for a few seconds.
  4. Add the mashed rice to the pan and mix well.
  5. Add curd and salt to taste and mix well.
  6. Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Allow the dish to cool for a while.
  8. Serve the dish cold.

Notes

  • You can add grated carrot, cucumber, or pomegranate seeds to enhance the flavor of the dish.
  • Make sure the rice is not overcooked as it can turn out mushy.
