- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chili Powder – 1 tsp

Method
Follow these steps to make kadala curry:- Soak the black chickpeas in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.
- Drain the water and rinse the chickpeas well.
- Pressure cook the chickpeas with enough water and salt for around 4-5 whistles or until they are soft and cooked.
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- When they start to splutter, add chopped onion and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add green chili, ginger, garlic, and curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds.
- Add chopped tomato and sauté until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt and mix well.
- Add cooked chickpeas along with the water and mix well.
- Add coconut milk and mix well.
- Simmer the gravy for around 10-15 minutes or until it thickens to the desired consistency.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
