For Jeera Rice:- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 tablespoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1 potato, peeled and diced
- 1 carrot, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water

Method
For Jeera Rice:
- Wash the rice in water and soak for 30 minutes.
- Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker or pot.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the soaked rice and salt to taste.
- Saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of water and stir well.
- Cover the pressure cooker or pot with a lid and cook for 2 whistles or until the rice is cooked.
- Turn off the heat and let the pressure release on its own.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and keep it aside.
For Gravy:
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Add chopped onions and saute until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute until they turn mushy.
- Add diced potatoes, diced carrots, and green peas.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt to taste.
- Saute for 5-7 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of water and stir well.
- Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked.
- Turn off the heat and let the gravy cool down.
- Blend the gravy in a blender until smooth.
- Transfer the gravy back to the pan and heat it up.
- Adjust salt and spices according to taste.
For Serving:
- Take a serving dish and spread the Jeera Rice at the bottom.
- Pour the hot gravy on top of the rice.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

- You can make the Jeera Rice and Gravy separately and combine them just before serving.
- You can add more vegetables like capsicum, cauliflower, or paneer to the gravy.
