- 3 cups Water
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds

- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 Onion, finely chopped
- 2 Tomatoes, finely chopped
- 4 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped
- 1 inch Ginger, finely chopped
- 2 Green Chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste

Method
- Wash the rice and dal separately and soak them in water for 10 minutes.

- When the cumin seeds start to sizzle, add chopped onions, ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onions turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn soft.

- Add 3 cups of water and salt to taste. Mix well.
- If using a pressure cooker, close the lid and cook for 3 whistles on medium heat. If using a pot, cover with a lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice and dal are cooked.
- When done, turn off the heat and let the pressure cooker or pot cool down before opening the lid.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with any side dish or as a standalone meal.
