Method

  7. Take a small portion of the batter and make small balls. Flatten the balls slightly and place them in the greased plates.
  8. Repeat the process until all the batter is used up.
  9. Place the plates in the steaming vessel and steam for 20-25 minutes on medium heat.
  10. Once done, turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  11. Remove the Kudumulu from the plates using a knife and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Notes

  • You can also add finely chopped onions and carrots to the coconut mixture for added flavor.
  • If the batter is too thick, add a little more water to adjust the consistency.
  • Make sure to grease the idli plates or steaming vessel well to prevent sticking.
  • You can also use store-bought rice flour instead of making it at home.
