- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain off excess fat.
- Add onion, green pepper, and garlic to the skillet and sauté until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove bay leaf and set aside.
- In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce.
- Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the noodles.
- Repeat layers of meat sauce, noodles, and cheese until all ingredients are used up, ending with a layer of cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
