Method
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and dried red chilies.
- Once the mustard seeds start spluttering, add asafoetida, ginger garlic paste, and chopped onions. Fry till the onions turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and fry till they turn mushy.
- Add curry leaves and fry for a minute.
- Add soaked rice and fry for a minute.
- Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and cook for 2-3 whistles.
- Let the pressure release naturally and open the lid.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
