- 2 cups of long-grain rice
- 1 cup of vermicelli noodles
- 4 cups of water or chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
Equipment
- A large pot with a tight-fitting lid
- A wooden spoon

- A frying pan
Method

- In a large pot, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and rice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the rice is lightly toasted and opaque. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the water or chicken broth and salt to the pot and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Cook for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5-10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the toasted vermicelli noodles.
- Cover the pot and let it sit for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Fluff the rice again with a fork and serve.
Notes
Make sure the lid of the pot is tight-fitting to ensure that the rice cooks evenly and doesn't dry out. If you prefer a richer flavor, you can use chicken broth instead of water. You can also add spices, such as cinnamon or cumin, to the rice for an extra burst of flavor.Nutrition Info
