Ingredients

Method

1. In a mixing bowl, add 2 cups of sweet rice flour and 1/4 tsp of salt. Mix well. 2. Slowly add 1 1/4 cups of hot water to the mixture, stirring constantly. 3. Once the dough is formed, add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and knead the dough until it is smooth. 4. Divide the dough into two portions and flatten them into discs. 5. Sprinkle cornstarch on a surface and roll out each disc into a long cylinder shape. 6. Cut the cylinders into small pieces, around 1 inch in length. 7. Shape each piece into an oval shape, pressing each end to flatten slightly. 8. Place the ovals into a steamer lined with parchment paper. 9. Steam for around 20-25 minutes until the rice cakes are cooked through. 10. Once the rice cakes are cooked, they can be served with soy sauce or gochujang.

Notes

- The rice cakes can be stored in the fridge for a few days. - If you don't have a rice cake mold, you can shape the rice cakes by hand. - Cornstarch is used to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together.
