- 1 cup of white rice
- 1 cup of water
- 4 cups of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Cinnamon powder for garnish (optional)

- A medium-sized saucepan
- A wooden spoon or spatula
- A mixing bowl
- A whisk
Method
- Rinse the rice in a strainer under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over high heat.
- Add the rinsed rice to the boiling water and stir well. Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.
- Let the rice simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed and the rice is fully cooked.
- Add the whole milk to the cooked rice and stir well.
- Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent the milk from burning.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the granulated sugar and salt to the mixture. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the mixture for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the rice pudding into a mixing bowl and let it cool to room temperature.
- Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the rice pudding for at least 2 hours before serving.
- To serve, spoon the chilled rice pudding into individual bowls and sprinkle cinnamon powder on top for garnish (optional).
