Ingredients

  • 1 can of tuna
  • 2 cups of cooked rice
  • 1/4 cup of chopped carrots
  • 1/4 cup of chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup of chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup of chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of chili flakes (optional)
  • Nori sheets

Equipment

Method

  1. First, mix together the tuna, rice, carrots, green onions, red bell pepper, and yellow onion in a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili flakes (if using).
  3. Pour the sauce over the tuna mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Take a small amount of the mixture and form it into a ball shape. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  5. Cut the nori sheets into small squares.
  6. Wrap each rice ball with a small piece of plastic wrap, then wrap a piece of nori around the outside of the ball.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly oil the surface.
  8. Cook the rice balls for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are lightly browned and crispy.
  9. Remove the plastic wrap from the rice balls and serve immediately.

Notes

These rice balls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply microwave for 30 seconds or until warmed through.
